FEATURED: I Said Your Name to God
by Tanner Olson
I SAID YOUR NAME TO GOD
Early this morning I prayed for you.
Walking down the sidewalk on 3rd Street I looked up and broke the silence.
I said your name to God—for all the world to hear.
You came to mind, and I couldn’t ignore the nudge.
I stopped next to a row of yellow wildflowers and asked the same for you.
To be planted deep and watered well.
For the sun and moon to hang over you day and night.
For peace to keep you as it protects from what hides in the unknown as you grow in a home of wholeness.
To be surrounded, hidden in beauty, cared for, and free of worry.
To know you are free—living as a reminder of hope.
For God to reach down and pull you through the dirt and mud into the wonder and light.
For new life to bloom and unfold as you stretch with grace in the freedom of new mercies and morning dew—
afternoon storms and midnight stars.
I said your name to God, and He heard me.
