Moonbeam Benediction
by Stephanie Nygaard
Sleepless night,
face tilted
towards the window-glow,
a Davidic psalm
on my lips.
You, Oh Lord—see!
You, Oh Lord— hear!
In response,
you lovingly
bathe me in
a moonbeam benediction—
washing away
the midnight darkness
settling into my soul.
Then,
a cradle song begins,
a tingling under my skin,
a silver-soft melody
reminding me
I’m your child—
I’m held!
In your radiant arms,
you sing me
to peaceful slumber
once more.
