Moonbeam Benediction

by Stephanie Nygaard

Sleepless night,

face tilted

towards the window-glow,

a Davidic psalm

on my lips.

You, Oh Lord—see!

You, Oh Lord— hear!

In response,

you lovingly

bathe me in

a moonbeam benediction—

washing away

the midnight darkness

settling into my soul.

Then,

a cradle song begins,

a tingling under my skin,

a silver-soft melody

reminding me

I’m your child—

I’m held!

In your radiant arms,

you sing me

to peaceful slumber

once more.

The Bible, beauty, and books offer an endless supply of inspiration for her writing, which she hopes will point people to God. Stephanie can often be found with a book in one hand, a cup of tea in the other, and a journal in her lap. She firmly believes one can never have too many photos of the sunset.
