Rekindled
by Stephanie Nygaard
Rekindled
There have been indigo years
of deep-blue mourning
brain space filled with fear
and warning,
inward turned,
moments missed for
bruised introspection.
And then—
a spark kindled,
a glow of glimmering golden red
began to burn in my heart
smoking out the head questions of
“What happened?” and
“What’s wrong with me?” and
“Why?”
bidding me to notice
the whole world caught on
fire with Beauty
and electrified with
the Light of Life.
Yet—
the bruised indigo moments
still come, occasionally, but
blood-shed Love
won’t let me forget
I’m held—and healed—by
the saving work of Beauty, and I am
re-kindled
again
and
again
and
again.
