Consider the Seeds

by Bre Strobel

CONSIDER THE SEEDS

Collection of trampled

dreams fallen from trees.

Nature teaching us

not to worry

where our efforts land—

I noticed them

swept across the hiking trail

blown along the curb

in the parking lot.

I’m reminded of when Jesus

called God a generous sower,

tossing a hopeful scattering

of seeds among

rocks and weeds.

The kingdom of Heaven is like

cottonwood seeds

withering on the footpath—

an offering to robin and wren,

some droppings sown in

ready soil. Legacy of trees

sending seeds on wind

to begin and

begin again.
