Trust and Other Poems

by Donna Bucher

TRUST

Fearful, clinging tighter, I falter.

As darkness obscures my vision,

He invites me to trust.

When uncertainty whispers, “Don’t let go,”

false control tightens my grip.

He invites me to trust.

His hand outstretched, reaching for me,

“My child, open your hand.”

He invites me to trust.

I open my hand in surrender.

In a release—embraced—

He invites me to rest.

 BREATHE AGAIN

Breathe healing into my brokenness.

Bring waters of refreshing to the dry places.

Ignite the fading embers of love too weak to rise.

Encourage, lift up, restore.

Spirit of truth, speak of Him—my Hope.

Slake my thirst for Him with endless living waters.

From the flames of my heart’s desire, purify my love.

Embolden, stir up, refine.
